History
1949 | Yokohama National University was established under the National School Establishment Law. Its initial colleges were Liberal Arts and Education, Economics and Engineering. |

1985 | The Graduate School of Engineering was reorganized from 12 departments into four departments; Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Marine Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering. |
1985-1986 | Doctoral Programs started in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Marine Technology, Material Science and Chemical Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. |
1990 | The Graduate School of International and Business Law was established. |
1996 | Tokyo Gakugei University United Graduate School of Education was established, aiming at the inter-university doctoral course for teacher teaching. |
1997 | The College of Education and Human Sciences was established by the reorganization of the College of Education. |
1999 | The International Graduate School of Social Sciences was established with the integration of the four graduate schools; Economics, Business Administration, International and Business Law, and International Development Studies. |
2001 | The Graduate School and Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences and the Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences were established by the consolidation of the Department of Artificial Environment and Systems in the Graduate School of Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Technology. |
