In principle, permission must be obtained from the copyright holder when using the copyrighted works of others, whereas, faculty members and students in charge of classes may reproduce the works for use in conducting classes.
However, this reproduction is not allowed without limitation. For example, the reproduction of an entire book used as a textbook for all students may cause economic disadvantage to the copyright holder. Hence this reproduction is not allowed. In addition, the "Compensation System for Public Transmission for Class Purposes" has been enforced by the revised Copyright Act of 2018, and our universitywill now utilize this system. As a result, materials that were previously distributed on paper can now be distributed as electronic files viathe Learning Management System,or e-mail. Students can now save the distributed materials on their computers, etc. for the purpose of using them in class (including preparation and review). However, please do not reproduce the contents. Also do not upload them to social networking sites. Unauthorized duplication is violation of applicable laws.
