Research Faculties
There are currently four research organizations called “Faculties(研究院)” at Yokohama National University. Unlike Colleges and Graduate Schools (which are essentially educational institutions), these Faculties were established to promote research activities at the university more efficiently and effectively. Academic staff of the Engineering, Environment and Information Sciences and Urban Innovation departments belong to one of these Faculties and conduct their research along with their educational activities at the Colleges and Graduate Schools.
Faculty of International Social Sciences
The Faculty of International Social Sciences (Research Institute) conducts highly-specialized research geared towards internationality and integration, addressing social needs in a new age of globalization. We conduct advanced research in the three social science fields of Economics, Business Administration, and International and Business Law. We organize research projects across these three areas and promote research activities functionally and flexibly. Responding to the needs of this globalized era, we are opening new research avenues through collaboration with other faculties on campus (Engineering, Environment and Information Science, and Urban Innovation), and partnership with universities, research institutes and industry both in Japan and overseas. These will bring about tangible progress in social science education in our university.
