【THE university Impact Ranking 2020】YNU is ranked #2 in SDG6〈Clean Water and Sanitization〉among Japanese universities, 14th (tied) in Japan’s overall ranking
Yokohama National University was ranked 14th (tied) within Japan in the THE University Impact Rankings 2020.
The ‘Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings’ is a ranking published by the UK education magazine Times Higher Education (THE) and are only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. It ranks the degree of social contribution of universities through the framework of the SDGs and is said to reflect the diversity and the uniqueness of universities.
YNU participated in the impact ranking for the first time this year, entered seven goals including SDG17 (5, 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 17), ranked 2nd for SDG6 (Clear water and sanitation), ranked 4th (tied) for SDG11 (Sustainable cities and communities) , and ranked 6th for SDG15 (Life on land) in Japan.

Yokohama National University will continue to promote university-wide initiatives oriented towards achieving the SDGs in its educational and research activities based on the principles: “Be Active,” “Be Innovative,” “Be Open” and “Be Global,” as enshrined in its charter. Yokohama National University will also widely practice and communicate the results, both inside and outside Japan, including business-academia collaboration, regional partnership and international cooperation.
