Contact Tracing for Possible Exposure to COVID-19 at YNU Campus

The Kanagawa Prefectural Government announced on January 8, 2021, that its policy on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) including universities, as a rule, is not to implement contact tracing but to encourage self-monitoring as per the advice of the local COVID-19 call center.

In response to this announcement, YNU have decided to trace the movements of persons confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 and ask the person to follow one of the three measures given below.

  • 1.Person requested to stay at home: Person who have dined with a confirmed COVID-19 person while holding a conversation, or who have come within 1 meter of the person without wearing a mask, or the equivalent will be treated as high risk and asked to stay at home for two weeks. Person who have any symptoms will be asked to promptly consult the local COVID-19 call center.

  • 2. Person requested for health monitoring: Person who have been within the path of movement of a confirmed COVID-19 person, or either dined together but did not hold a conversation or sat at the same table but were wearing a mask, will not be required to stay at home but will be asked to self-monitor their health for two weeks and wear a mask at all times except while alone.

  • 3. No particular request will be issued to a person who have been within the path of movement of a confirmed COVID-19 person at YNU campus but are believed to have been wearing a mask and not to have come within 1 meter.

  • Buildings and rooms that fall within the path of movement of a confirmed COVID-19 patient will be disinfected and will be closed.

    In case you are diagnosed with COVID-19, please notify the Health Service Center by telephone (045-335-1518 from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays) in accordance with the “Measures against the Infection Spread of the Novel Coronavirus (the Fifteenth Report).”
