Yokohama National University won the Japan Ryugaku (meaning "study abroad") Awards grand prize in the category of National and Public Universities of East Japan for 4 consecutive years and in the category of Graduate schools of East Japan for 2 consecutive years.

The Japan Ryugaku Awards which is hosted by the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education is selected Universities or vocational schools as a destination to be recommended to international students studying at Japanese Language Schools from the perspective of Japanese Language Schools. This year, the 9th times, and 469 votes were collected from 176 Japanese language schools in Japan. A total of 50 schools were awarded the prizes, and among them, the top 10 schools selected in the East and West Japan were also received the grand award in each category.

This year, the awards ceremony was held online on September 26th Saturday and from YNU Prof. TANABU Motonari, Executive Advisor to the President participated in. In the ceremony Prof. TANABU expressed the delight of winning the award, and introduced the response of YNU to the care of international students’ lives and study, as well as the response of YNU to the consideration given to international students who entered from Japanese language schools in COVID-19 related confusion.

We believe that our active efforts to support international students were highly evaluated and led to the awards. Through these honorable awards, we are going to futher support for international students and education contents more than ever.
